Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

Quash is a document scanner and privacy tool that runs entirely on your device. This policy explains what information Quash handles, how it is protected, and the limited cases in which your device connects to the internet.

2. Information we collect

Quash does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal information. We have no accounts, no tracking, no advertising, and no analytics.

All data is stored locally on your device only:

Scanned documents — PDF files you create by scanning, stored on your device.
OCR text — text recognized by on-device machine learning when you use the OCR feature.
Settings & purchase state — preferences such as your chosen language, scan quality, and whether Pro is unlocked.
Metadata — document titles and timestamps used to organize your library.

3. Storage & security

Your scanned PDFs, thumbnails, and shredder outputs are encrypted before they are written to disk using AES-256-GCM. The encryption key is kept in your device's secure hardware-backed storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) and never stored on disk.

All encryption and decryption is performed on-device. Even if your device were compromised, your files remain unreadable without your key.

4. Photo shredding & metadata

The Shredder feature re-encodes photos on your device, stripping embedded EXIF metadata — including GPS location, device model, and capture time — before you save or share the cleaned image.

This processing happens entirely on-device; the original photo is never uploaded anywhere.

5. Device permissions

Quash asks for the minimum permissions needed to function. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose.

Quash does not upload your files. Permission descriptions state this explicitly.

6. Internet use & third parties

Quash works fully offline. There are only two situations where a network connection is involved, and both require your explicit action:

Restoring purchases — when you restore a Pro purchase, Quash contacts the App Store / Google Play to verify your receipt. Quash first asks for your confirmation and explains this, and it happens on no other occasion.
Purchasing — payments are processed directly by the App Store / Google Play; Quash never sees your payment details.

We use no third-party advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs. Quash Pro is a one-time purchase; we collect no subscription or usage data.

7. In-app purchases

Quash Pro unlocks unlimited OCR, removes the free watermark, and enables batch shredding, PDF merge, and unlimited metadata processing. It is a one-time purchase billed through the App Store or Google Play, at the price shown in the app.

Refunds are handled by the respective app store, subject to their policies.

8. Your control & deletion

You are in full control of your data:

Delete — deleting a document from the library permanently removes its PDF and thumbnails from your device.
Shred — the Shredder removes sensitive metadata from images before they leave your device.
Uninstall — uninstalling Quash erases all local data, including encrypted documents, keys, and preferences.

9. Children's privacy

Quash is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because Quash collects no personal data at all, there is nothing to sell, share, or disclose.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app. Because Quash processes no personal data, future updates will not affect your stored files.
